CAPACITY-BUILDING ASSISTANCE SERVICES

"Helping Amazing People Do Amazing Things"

What is capacity building assistance (CBA)? Both the art and science of imparting knowledge, skills and technology that affect individual abilities and organizational systems (including community) towards improving and sustaining effective and efficient HIV prevention. - Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

At Williams & Associates we know first hand the challenges of meeting the unique health prevention needs of minority communities. It’s that knowledge and first hand experience that we bring to our efforts to assist other agencies in meeting such needs. Our capacity building assistance program offers assistance and guidance from organizational infrastructure (forming a 501 (c) 3, incorporating, etc…) to community mobilization.

The CBA services of Williams & Associates, Inc include community mobilization, HIV prevention intervention effectiveness, identification and implementation of evidence base interventions addressing minority health disparities, intervention adaptation/replication, community needs assessment, and population-based needs assessment, and program evaluation.

Our Capacity Building Assistance Philosophy:

“If you have come here to help me, then you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up in mine, then let us begin…”
- Lily Walker

We at Williams & Associates believe that the health issues facing minority communities can best be addressed by competent and capable individuals and organizations that stem from the communities themselves. Our CBA motto, “Helping Amazing People Do Amazing Things.”  We approach CBA services from the ideology that capacity building is achieved in stages, assembled as building blocks, from individual to organization to community. When the capacity of the individual is improved, he or she will be more capable and valuable to the organization. If the value of the organization is increased, the community will benefit directly. If the community has strong capacity for providing preventative health services and/or care, then people at risk of or already challenged with a health ailment will have access to better health services.

We at Williams & Associates, Inc, work to ensure that we hire and consult with persons and organizations that can assist us in “Helping Amazing People Do Amazing Things”. To that end our staff and various subject area consultants’ posses the skill sets that enable us to build the capacity of organizations to operate optimally and to provide evidence-based interventions and public health strategies that can help reduce racial and ethnic health disparities.
